We need a real-deal, big-thinking, top-shelf, no-messin’-around digital strategist for this role (Maybe even rootin’-tootin’, if that’s not asking too much). The employer is a much-sought-after consultant firm whose multidisciplinary teams provide tech solutions to a very hot list of Fortune 200 companies. If you’re a natural innovator with 10 or more years of experience, a thorough grounding in digital solutions and an architect’s top-down vision, you’re who we need to hear from.
The Nitty Gritty
No big surprises here: The job will consist of the very kind of work you’ve been doing — designing and implementing consumer-grade digital solutions — but you should expect the quality and intensity and rewards to be ratcheted up a notch or two. You’ll be working with very sophisticated clients, on an uber-sophisticated team that will be looking to you to provide the big-picture view. Are all possible stakeholders (and their needs) accounted for? Within the enterprise ecosystem, how does Entity A relate to Entity J? Will Solution X work for internal client B? Will it cause headaches or workflow inefficiencies for internal client W? How will end-users and consumers benefit from a given proposed solution? To the extent that you uncover possible hitches (and you will uncover possible hitches), you’ll be expected to develop problem-solving frameworks to help the team see its options. At every step of the game, in other words – even when you and the team are deep down in the weeds – you’ll be applying a strategist’s eye to the whole affair.
Hired Gun Profile
You, Digital Architect, have an awful lot going for you. You’re totally current on industry trends and the ins and outs of IT, such that if, under some sci-fi scenario, you had to abandon your post and do in-the-trenches product work, you’d kill at it. You’re a natural-born strategic thinker, the sort who doesn’t have to put on a strategic hat because actually you can’t help but see the big picture all the time. And you’re not just a garden-variety geek, either: You’ve got the professional polish to sit down with senior execs at extremely important companies and talk calmly and clearly about their businesses and what’s best for them and why. Finally, you’ve got interpersonal charm and an honest-to-God belief in collaboration with your peers.
Top consideration goes to those with a Master’s in IT and a decade or so of experience in a major consulting firm.
This is a prestige gig for a talented pro who’s ready to assume the mantle of thought leadership at a crackling-hot consultancy.
