The Hired Guns are seeking a rock star for a company very near and dear to our heart: our own. We’re looking to step up our game even more, and we need an awesome Digital Talent Scout to do it. We’re looking for a brilliant writer, superb communicator, hard-core data miner, and someone with an eye for the best talent in the digital space.
This role involves a lot of creative thinking, especially because we’re often tasked with finding talent for roles that have never existed before. When a new gig comes in from one of our high profile clients, you’ll sit down with one of our talent managers and strategize. From there, you’ll be tasked with doing initial outreach to talent within The Hired Guns’ community (’cause you know we take care of our own). We have a robust database that’s been hard won over the past 13 years, so you’ll sit down with one of our talent agents and develop a short list. Then the outreach will begin!
The other main part of your job will be to act as a real talent scout across the many digital roles where we find talent. It will be your job to scour the interwebs for who we should be bringing into our fold, identifying the next Zuck or Sergey as you go. You’ll look across the arsenal of tools the Internet has now made available, evaluate personal brands by discipline and rank the prospective newbies. LinkedIn, Twitter, Google, and Klout will do part of the job for you. But honing your instincts for who’s got the right stuff, that’s the art of this job.
You’ll be running tons of searches for talent, so you’ll need to know how to become a Boolean search ninja and learn how to trump algorithms in order to find fantastic talent. Of course, we’ll be happy to provide all the training you need. You’ll also need to know (or be eager to learn) the various disciplines we cover, from product management and tech to content strategy and marketing. You’ll identify the necessary skills for each role and reconcile those skills with our clients’ needs.
You should be a natural networker. You need to know how to talk to people in different situations at different levels. Here at THG, we reach out to talent every single day, which means you’ll need an innate gift for making people feel at ease while getting pumped new career opportunities. Crafting quality emails is a lost art (or maybe it never existed), but the person for this role must be able to write flawlessly yet persuasively, time after time.
To land this gig, you’re going to need to demonstrate that you can process large quantities of information into digestible forms by isolating what is viable. In this case, the information is people. Extremely talented ones who are not only gifted, but busy.
