Our client, one of the most recognizable names in the media biz, needs someone with strong leadership skills to head up a department consisting of a cadre of digital project managers. If you’ve been living the project-management dream for a while now and are ready to step up and manage the managers, kindly sing out. The gig promises excitement right in the sweet spot where company growth meets cutting-edge products.
The Nitty Gritty
As we all know, every digital team needs a project manager, same as every car needs a steering wheel (possible exception: Google’s jalopy). This company organizes all of those project managers into one unit, and as the Program Manager, you’ll be the head of that unit. You’ll assign your managers to various teams, look in on their work, measure their performance, coach, correct, encourage, and do all the fine things that good managers do. So when the company sets out to create a new product, it’ll be up to you to hire or assign the right person to drive the process along and get the best results. If you see that something isn’t working, you’ll intervene. And of course, you’ll share responsibility for the success or failure of these endeavors. (But you won’t fail, so let’s just say “success.”)
Within the company, there’s been a lot of recent growth in digital advertising, so a good many of the projects requiring your immediate attention will be in that realm. You’ll see to it that your project managers are tapping the appropriate in-house and/or agency talent and bringing off highly creative, successful and lucrative products.
Hired Gun Profile
You’re likely a creative type who has discovered you have a flair for leadership. Maybe you started out as digital talent at a brand or agency, got put in charge of a project or two, and realized that managing people is at least as rewarding as the more “creative” work you’d been up to previously. Now, you’re ready to step even further along the management path; what attracts you to this gig is both the increased leadership challenge as well as the fact that you’ll be connected, via the chain of command, to several creative products at once, and thus at no remove from the excitement and buzz that always inheres to bright people building smart new things.
You very much understand how to motivate folks to give their very best. You’re energetic and organized, able to manage your own budgets and timelines as well as to hold other people to theirs. As a leader, you’re fair and firm. People who work for you appreciate your easygoing sense of humor but also know you mean what you say and that you expect them to work as hard as you do.
Advertising project management experience is not a requirement, but if you’ve got it, flaunt it, please, by showing us your pretty portfolio.
What better place to step up into a senior leadership role than at this fun, successful and growing company?
