As the world of television consumption continues to evolve, and the options for viewing your favorite show multiply, it’s become a huge challenge for media companies to keep track of viewership trends across everything from live viewing to Netflix to Hulu Plus to Xbox and beyond. That is why we are looking for an energetic data expert to fill the newly created role of Analytical Research Manager to obtain, mine, and analyze audience data for our client, a major cable network with a heavy digital presence that’s committed to remaining on top in today’s turbulent media landscape.
The data’s the thing for you — you love pivot tables and all their works. In 3-5 years working in the analytic profession, you have already shown a marked ability to pull out interesting strands and trends from disparate data points.
You’re familiar with a variety of sources of unstructured data, some of which may need a little grooming and organizing to yield a coherent narrative. Your background may have included stints at traditional TV stations or digital-only outfits, but either way you’re very comfortable working in highly collaborative team environments.
Reporting to the Director of Analytics and working as part of a five-person team, you will be organizing and analyzing the newly available flood of information about our client’s long-form shows.
We’re talking about mining viewership numbers and other data from Live TV, DVR, VOD, Hulu, PSP, Netflix, iTunes and whatever else helps get our client’s shows in front of eyeballs.
By analyzing that data for viewing habits, trends over time, and average spending, you and the company’s team will be able to get a 360-degree understanding of when, where, and how audiences tune in. You’ll be working with the heads of business units here to help determine new initiatives and influence day-to-day decisions at the network.
We think that this is one of those emerging roles that are going to be in high demand in a year or two — pulling together all the data that’s now out there will soon seem like a no-brainer to anyone producing or publishing video content. So if this doesn’t seem like the particular job for you, but you’d like to be kept in mind for similar jobs in the future, get us your details.
If you’re interested in putting your numeric and analytical savvy to work at a place that’s making a major impact on what’s on offer on all the little screens in our lives, then we’ve got just the place for you.
