Salary range: $110,000 to $140,000 per year

This influential media site backed by a well-financed, influential foundation is spearheading a movement to transform American education via solutions-based journalism—by telling stories of what’s working in schools, and what’s not. To deliver on this mission, they’re looking for a highly skilled Art Director who has worked in an editorial capacity to join their dynamic team and elevate their brand.

Your day-to-day will be spent scouting and making decisions about illustrations and photography for their blog, newsletter, social media accounts, and website. You will manage two freelancers under you, potentially more in the future. You will also partner closely with the product team to bring wireframes to life (note, this is about 20% of the job, but it’s important).

Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…

First off, you must have 7+ years of experience in art direction, preferably in an editorial or content-adjacent environment. You’re great at upleveling brands by finding and fostering relationships with a talented stable of artists and illustrators.

Huge plus if you know Figma and Photoshop, as you will sometimes partner with the product team, creating mockups, responsive designs, and dynamic page layouts.
