The Hired Guns are seeking an ambitious Breaking Investment News Reporter with sound journalistic instincts to focus on all things investment—from the stock market and investor trends, to climbing interest rates, to the unexpected impact of supply chain disruptions (gimme my Diet Coke!).
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the organization and why they need to hire you!
A premier investment news and financial literacy website is looking for an aggressive go-getter of a Breaking News Reporter to join their team. This site is the go-to for premium business news, investment trends, and stock analysis, so they need a team player who’s dynamic, skilled, and quick-witted to take their coverage to the next level. They’re currently reinventing their editorial mission to be even more inclusive and diverse, and they’d love someone who sees the story lurking behind the same old tired finance news. In this role, you’ll help reinvent the editorial mission, build out your own portfolio, and be a part of a world-class breaking news team.
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
You have worked in a fast-paced breaking finance news environment for at least two years. You live and breathe investment news and know fluctuations in the market impact more than just your 401k. You’ve been a reporter for at least two years at a well-regarded news organization and know how to break a story.
You possess a deep understanding of the financial markets and how both fundamental and technical data are used to make investment choices. Prior reporting experience and strong editorial and communication skills are a must. You can spot a good story at 50 paces and are comfortable interviewing extremely powerful people along with your Average Joe™. You’re a master at pitching stories, tracking down sources and handing in riveting clean copy with a high-speed turnaround. The ability to work collaboratively within a collegial team in a fast-paced newsroom (albeit remote) is essential. This role requires a solid working knowledge of U.S. equity markets, corporate earnings reports, and SEC filings. Big plus if you have knowledge in specific industry sectors—namely tech and finance.
The Inside Skinny
Why you should quit your job right now and join this organization!
If you want to work with some of the country’s finest and most experienced financial news journalists, then this is the role for you. The growth opportunities here are practically limitless, and you’ll learn from some of the best in the business. Plus, you’ll be able to help redevelop an editorial mission within a storied newsroom at a trusted institution. If this is you, we want to talk!
