Are you the kind of person who’s always been thought of as the teacher’s pet – a note-taker, question-asker, homework-doer? Well, you know what? Unlike that kid Billy in your seventh-grade homeroom (who, by the way, never amounted to anything) we’re not going to pick on you about that. In fact, it’s more than all right with us, because that’s just the personality type for whom we’re looking, to land this exciting gig managing digital projects for the intranet of a prestigious East Coast medical institution.
The Nitty Gritty
You’ll be responsible for several projects within this 30,000-user portal, which provides central access to all news, communities, dashboards, and equipment requests. Working with a scrum team of 15, you’ll use a Kanban workflow to conduct projects both large and small, varying from product rollouts to the creation of new apps, to the building of new communities, to the deployment of new links, posts, promoted searches and videos.
As you work, you’ll keep a sharp eye out for opportunities for process improvements, which you’ll document as you create templates and write documentation, being the note-taker that you are. You’ll also interface with outsourced teams and with the multitude of stakeholders and creatives by which you’ll be constantly surrounded, and believe us, they, too, will cherish your diligence.
Hired Gun Profile
You’re passionate about processes and workflows, and you maybe have Agile experience (but if you don’t, don’t sweat it). Somewhere deep in your heart, there is a fervent dream of growing up to be a COO.
Here’s the main thing: You’re not an order-taker; nobody ever has to ask you to follow up on something. If it needs following up, you’ll just follow up, because duh. And no one will ever say to you, “Please write this down,” because you’re sitting there writing it down already. In a word, you are proactive. Incredibly proactive, to stretch it out to two words. You’re super-organized and have impeccable management and communication skills. Part of your natural polish extends to an ability to navigate and network within a sprawling and diverse organization.
We’d be remiss not to mention that this happens to be a fantastic company to work for, a place whose academic atmosphere infuses the entire organization with a chill, nurturing vibe.
For a can-do project manager looking for a career super-charge, this one is it. You may now put down your pencil. But you already knew that.
