One of the world’s most prestigious medical centers is seeking a smart and forthright Business Analyst who’s looking to move up the product manager track. Interested in joining an extremely close-knit and super-smart innovation team that’s devoted to handling complex infrastructure projects? Utilizing your stakeholder management skills, crafting user journeys, personas and wireframing out concepts, while promoting good product management practices? Do you ave agile chops and the ability to think cross-functionally? If so, this role at an extremely tech-forward medical center could be the career-maker you’ve been looking for.
Nitty Gritty
The medical center you’re joining is in major, cutting-edge tech development mode. They’re building an impressive tech team that has taken over product management and development work streams and is driving new functionality at the highest levels. Ensuring that everything works smoothly and that new development projects launch efficiently all starts with you their Business Analyst.
First off, this tech team runs in an Agile/Scrum environment, so excelling in that setting is key. In this role, you’ll interview stakeholders, connect the dots, identify patterns, and develop future roadmaps. You’ll develop user stories, capture business requirements, and conduct user acceptance testing, identifying, opportunities and gaps as you go. You’ll drive meetings with chairs, senior staff, and researchers, to translate their ideas and concerns into meaningful actions.
You’ll be in charge of grooming an existing backlog, and helping with prioritization. (We’ll be honest: one way this job could go south is if you aren’t able to manage multiple priorities and issues. If you haven’t yet built up quite enough people skills to find out which of several tasks are most critical, this might not be the right place for you.)
You’ll be keeping track of the status of everything using JIRA, and you’ll need to have a clear vision of the project’s whole roadmap, and a good idea of how your work fits in.
Hired Gun Profile
Our client is after a detail-oriented executor with a big-picture orientation who’s also an intellectually curious problem solver. Most likely, you have already been a business analyst, or at least done substantial amounts of analogous work—and you may have worked at a digital company known for its ability to build out complex, enterprise-level projects.
You thrive on innovation and love the thrill of startups, but you also put a priority on the stability and cohesiveness of being part of a bigger team, and love to know that you are making a difference. Ideally, you should be passionate about the next generation of health-care innovation.
You should know JIRA or at least be able to show that you’re someone who can pick up on this and similar project management dashboards. And you have a strong preference for working in an Agile environment.
Inside Skinny
In this role, you can make a big impact—something that might not be as easy to do at less forward-thinking institutions. If you want to be part of a passionate team that cares about the next generation of healthcare, this gig is for you. You will also be an early lead on a team that will expand greatly in the next year.
