Moving up in the world is generally a fine thing indeed, but many a creative has climbed the ladder only to wonder if making the trains run on time was really why they were ultimately set down here on earth. Whence the heady days of inspiration? Whence that old lovin’ feeling of turning a great idea into a thing of beauty for all to appreciate? Well, if you happen to be at that certain stage of your career, then take hope, for this gig, while senior and strategic, will lean heavily on the cleverness, passion and aesthetic skills that first set you apart from the crowd all those years ago. As Creative Director for this UX-focused shop, you’ll apply that razor-sharp eye — as well as the managerial skills you’ve been building over the years — to every visual aspect of the firm’s work. It’s a truly hefty role (The outfit considers it “mission-critical”) but we know that for somebody like you, it’ll be a ton of fun.
Nitty Gritty
Once you burst on the scene, you’ll promptly inject the enterprise with your innovative, energetic, outside-the-box aesthetic drive. Whether it’s marketing assets, digital products, branding, CID — whatever the firm happens to get up to, so long as it has any kind of visual element — it’ll be yours to weigh in on, to shape, to guide, to imagine or reimagine or facilitate.
You will, of course, be managing creative and design teams, and interacting frequently with clients to help all hands come to the best understanding of each account’s requirements and aspirations. And as the creative vision plays out across products and channels, you’ll be there applying careful oversight to ensure consistency and cohesiveness of the aesthetic. Besides leveraging in-house resources, you’ll call on your existing network of vendors, freelancers and agencies to get the work done in the best possible way.
Hired Gun Profile
You come from an agency (Sorry, that one’s non-negotiable) and have spent at least ten years developing the kind of portfolio that makes lesser designers weep with envy. Said portfolio –and accompanying case studies — extends to mobile, social, video and print, and illustrates a track record of successfully elevating brands. Quite obviously, you’re up-to-the-minute in terms of trends and tools in both visual design and UX — journey mapping, user flows, wireframing, etc. You’ve worked in the past with financial services clients and, we hope, pharma accounts. You think unceasingly of your clients and their consumers’ experiences.
People who work for or around you would not hesitate to characterize you as high-energy, diplomatic, collaborative, and even inspiring. Little wonder, since it’s both a natural and cultivated instinct of yours to encourage great ideas and the flow of positive energy that results in the creation of beautiful things.
Inside Skinny
This employer is earnestly looking for someone who’ll relish ownership of the role and is looking to grow along with the organization.
Net Net
The principal advantages discussed above — rewarding creative work combined with gravitas — are topped off by a really nice salary and a great benefits package. If you want to keep doing this kind of work at a senior level, we’d be hard-put to find anything more suitable.
