The Hired Guns are seeking a Creative Director in New York, NY to handle brand marketing and design for a major player in the music industry that holds a fundamental place in the structure of the industry. You two could make — and protect the rights to — beautiful music together.
Nitty Gritty
This organization has enough clients to populate a not-so-small nation (no exaggeration!), so your role as the brains behind their brand is a really big deal. You’ll be conceiving and realizing creative strategy in all forms, working mostly with a design team that looks to you for vision and leadership. You’re a facilitator of your own ideas here, so you’ll need to be an ace communicator who can keep the dream real for everyone in harmony throughout its realization.
To make your new employer’s dreams a reality, you also need to be a production wunderkind — producing everything from digital and print ads to step-and-repeat backdrops for must-attend events that the company produces. The great news is you’ll be encouraged to take risks, as long as you’re mindful of the overall brand.
Another heavy lift in the role is project and asset management, which means you establish and enforce protocols for logging, organizing, distributing materials, so the people alongside you can effectively access and implement your ideas.
Finally, you need to inspire creativity on your team, challenging them always to bring their best ideas to work every day.
Hired Gun Profile
You know Adobe Creative Suite so well you could guide tours of it. You’re a creative strategist, sure, but you also know how to project manage the creative process as well — from design to completion, with all the production and execution in between. Your BFA led to early roles as a graphic designer, and you’ve moved steadily up into roles that gave you more creative ownership and management of people.
You’ve honed your team management skills with a particular focus on brand development and architecture. You have not been a job hopper. You’ve stuck around and paid your dues, growing both professionally and managerially. That said, you’ve ideally worked at more than one company in the decade plus that you’ve been in the workplace.
Our client thinks that the title of the job you currently hold might be anything from Design Director, Brand Manager, Art Director to Creative Services Manager. In any case you have significant experience managing a team of designers. Heck, you might already be a creative director at another company who just wants a change of scenery and challenge. Whichever it is, you’re passionate about music and eager to take your talents to a place that lets you do what you love.
If you’ve worked in media, entertainment, publishing, agencyland or any of the performing arts, you’ll be right at home.
Inside Skinny
Our client would love someone who has worked inside of the music or entertainment industries, and no longer gets starstruck by artists and “the scene.” That’s because you’re the one inventing it.
Net-Net
This is a great platform for a candidate who comes packing creativity and organizational prowess, looking to level up without leaving behind the work that you excel at. And you’ll be making big moves at one of the coolest places you can work, no matter who your favorite band is. Sound good?
