How could you pass this one up? We’re talking about a really slick, highly desirable agency that’s willing to put its trust in your talents and let you hit the ground running creating interactive products that will knock their socks off and, just by the way, serve as a showcase for your abilities and help secure a place for you long-term within this organization where everybody wants to be.
Nitty Gritty
The company is headquartered on the West Coast, but you’ll be leading the New York office, starting out with a few projects as an individual contributor for the first few months and then possibly taking on a permanent leadership role. You’ll take ownership of the brands of the accounts you’re assigned, and dig on in, creating all types of branding campaigns across different media: redesigns, digital product development, the iconography and language for sites, and even closer-to-physical work such as retail experiences, kiosks, and touch wall/touch-screen installations.
This is not a decree-and-observe gig, nor is it a highly circumscribed role; instead, you’ll be seeing campaigns all the way through, start to finish — ideation, all stages of UX, and rolling out to market. As your practice grows, you’ll start to build, manage and mentor a team of your own.
Hired Gun Profile
You’re already so experienced and so good at this kind of agency work that the powers that be will clear you for takeoff as soon as you come through the door. You’ve been the lead on several experiential/interactive projects, which means you’re decisive and surefooted; that is, while your creative chops are enviable, you’re able not just to dream up effective campaigns but to get things done, to push the pieces into place.
You have real prior experience managing designers and other creatives, and your leadership style is heavy on inspiration, mentorship and hands-on collaboration. You think that leading a team is just as fun as designing a campaign or a piece of collateral — and just as much of an art.
Inside Skinny
While, as stated, the idea is to start you off as a contractor working on your own for the first few months, you shouldn’t think of this as a “trial” period and certainly not as a time to develop leadership qualities; instead, you must prove that you have both the creative and the executive skillset right now, ready to go.
Net Net
This is a huge opportunity with massive upside potential at a company with amazing clients, and one that’s on a mighty sweet trajectory.
