Our client, which has been using some killer e-commerce talent to transform the ways that high-end goods find new homes, is looking for a highly energetic and practical Director of Analytics to help them maintain their steep, steep growth.
Our client has a rich supply of raw data, and a major part of this role will be figuring out the best ways to obtain useful results from it.
Reporting to the head of audience development and analytics, you’ll be managing two full-time analysts, as well as overseeing possible additional consulting and freelance talent. You and your team will be using data from Google Analytics, email service providers, and in-house data to get a better picture of the supply of goods, which come from business owners from all over the world, as well as the demand, which is fed by upscale consumers.
As a modern B2C company that’s been growing like crazy, our client LOVES analytics, so you’ll definitely be working cross-functionally and helping advise the other teams here, including product, engineering, marketing, sales, and account management.
Working with the account management team here, you’ll be helping develop dashboards for those suppliers and in-house stakeholders, to help optimize product supply.
On the demand side, you’ll be developing detailed and rigorous user conversion funnels, A-B testing plans, and marketing-mix optimizations, which will influence the ways in which products are offered and promoted on and off the site. Done right, this job could really help transform your career, as well as the company itself.
Hired Guns Profile
Targeting, segmentation, and modeling should all be major parts of your toolkit. You should also be very skilled at stats, math, and analysis, and have a gift for communicating the bottom line to those working in non-technical roles.
Keep in mind that you’ll be sharing our client’s bright and sunny downtown office with experts who’ve done stints with such e-commerce giants as eBay, FreshDirect, Gilt, and Google. You don’t necessarily have to have worked at household names like that yourself, but it definitely couldn’t hurt.
As you’ll realize as soon as you check out the amazing things being sold on this site, the looks and aesthetics are really important to the company and everyone who works here. Any similar experience with similar high-end e-commerce or design-oriented marketplace businesses, such as Net-A-Porter, Etsy, Airbnb, or Zillow, will definitely serve you well here.
Not living in New York (yet)? For the right candidate, our client would be more than willing to discuss paying relocation expenses.
If you’ve been champing at the bit at your current gig and want the chance to manage and grow your own team while still keeping your hand in doing direct analysis, then this just might be the perfect place for you.
