One of New York’s most well-respected, pioneering architecture firms is looking for a Marketing Director with both a brand and business development mindset to bring them to the next level.
Our client is an award-winning firm that works in multiple areas- high end residential development, private residential, cultural and civic work. They are looking to expand their market share in civic work from higher ed initiatives to civic-minded place-making. That’s why they need you to come in and set the vision for how to grow within these markets.
They need a strategic thinker who can elevate the brand by helping them define their unique value proposition and how it translates to these new markets and then build the go-to-market strategy by segment without losing their distinct mission and philosophy when it comes to architecture.
You’ll also establish and work with the partners on Sales Development initiatives for these new verticals in particular — from building the sales funnel to driving lead nurturing efforts and managing the various marketing channels to turn cold leads into hot prospects over time.
As the Director, your job will be to help this architecture firm capture media and industry attention for the firm’s full range of capabilities. They’re especially interested in elevating their profile among universities, nonprofits, and government and civil decision makers. Your work will target these players through advanced marketing communications. You will see the landscape and build a plan for this prestigious firm to take them to the next level.
Success looks like this:
Year one: You establish your go-to-market strategy, segmentation and hit the ground prospecting in the expansion verticals. You also help prioritize the new verticals based on the relationships you (and the firm currently has) and by aligning similar projects that the firm has accomplished with those you want to win. Additionally, you develop a killer pitch deck and begin telling the story. Within that year, you’ve scored key high profile meetings on meaningful and interesting projects, present regularly, are invited to participate in RFPs and win at least 1 commission per vertical. As you know, it just takes the one right project, to break the code so that you get invited to all the right future deals.
Ideally you went to architecture or design school and have spent a few years working in the architecture space. Over time, you realized you belonged on the business side of the equation representing and selling the thought leadership of the firms you worked at.
Beyond this early pedigree, you could have strong experience working on the marketing side of just about any creatively minded professional services organization from ad agencies to branding firms. No matter what career path you’ve taken, you have a demonstrated history of developing killer marketing communications to elevate brands.
You have had success breaking open new markets. You’re not afraid of business development. Your optimism and drive cannot be held in by any wall or barrier. You understand B to B marketing. And you adore architecture. You get excited about coming into a company and inspiring it with a renewed spirit. You have had success setting up a strategic marketing plan and can show the results. You’re a gifted relationship builder with the ability to reach decision makers and help them become new clients.
An ample rolodex and knowledge in and around selling into decision makers in the higher ed, municipal, arts and education spaces is highly desireable!
Here’s a real chance to re-shape the profile of a major architecture firm and your success here would make headlines.
