The Hired Guns are seeking a Director of Retail Point-of-Sale (POS) Strategy to lead the future of point-of-sale technology at a famous luxury omnichannel retailer.
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the organization and why they need to hire you!
A famous retailer is looking for a Director of Retail Point-of-Sale (POS) Strategy to unite the store product technology team with the company’s wider connected-store technology strategy. To get this done, you’ll be directly partnering with this company’s sister brand, which is a top-ten e-commerce company. You’ll have one key direct report at the start: the manager of POS, who ensures that daily business requirements are met, including parameter programming, presell coding, receipt verbiage, special departments, policy updates, etc. You’ll play a key role in the evolution of all selling and service technology, from validation and ideation to implementation and ongoing optimization. As Director of Selling Technology, you’ll also serve as the liaison with the sister/parent brand, sharing needs and advocating as appropriate. You’ll act as a partner to the stores and CX business strategists to ensure that existing tech is functioning as intended, maintained to support the business need, and meeting risk assessment requirements.
If you’re excited by selling technology and point-of-sale systems, this is an opportunity to own and scale that domain in new and exciting ways, while managing a Senior Manager as a direct report, working closely with stakeholders, and playing a pivotal role in the creation of technology strategy for a famous, successful brand!
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
You have a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience with a significant background in setting up POS systems. You know selling technology inside and out. Experience working with stakeholders and creating a technology strategy is key. You have a customer-centric mindset, and you enjoy cross-functional collaboration. You’re intellectually curious with strong analytical skills that guide you in identifying actionable insights and recommendations. You are effective at sharing technical information and communicating technical issues and solutions to all levels of business. You think creatively, strategically, and technically with the ability to juggle multiple projects at once. You’re open to working a flexible schedule and putting in extra hours when department and company needs call for it. You’re fluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Oh, and you’re a really nice person! This role is highly visible and is replacing someone beloved in the organization. So, if you have high EQ and a coaching-oriented, empathetic management style, you’re the right fit.
The Inside Skinny
