The Hired Guns are seeking a Head of Product Management with a highly technological bent, a strategic streak and a history of big, complex builds. You’ll be helping innovate the capabilities of a company that plays a vital role in the healthcare space by providing platforms and services that speed up and power up biomedical and pharmaceutical research.

For their first Head of Product Management, this company, described as a “25-year-old startup”, needs a leader who will approach both product and technology through the lens of a keen sense of business strategy. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the CEO, COO, and other top stakeholders to explore new SaaS product and service offerings that will leverage their wealth of big data, while simultaneously growing market share in their core business, a network of research providers, pharma companies, and medical practitioners.
It’ll be up to you to build the roadmap, prioritize initiatives and improvements, and manage the development team and process. You’ll collaborate with all functions within the company as well as interact with their client-users to identify needs and implement business process improvements. At the outset, you’ll take over the relationship with the existing external development partner, then over time, you’ll put together the team that will bring dev in-house.

With a 15- to 20-year track record in product and technology management, you’ve acquired a varied portfolio of experience that includes heavy B2B, SaaS, and CRM. Exposure to the healthcare, medical, or pharmaceutical industry is a must-have. Front-end, back-end, and everything in between, you grok the business-side strategy, the user’s needs, and the tech feasibility. You’ve learned by doing that the best decisions are made when all of the functional areas — C-suite, tech, UX, design, and of course the customer — are valued inputs into decision- making. As a communicator, you are nothing short of extraordinary: you excel at speaking the languages of all stakeholders and are known as a thought leader within the organizations you’ve served.

What matters is that you’re a strong team builder and leader and a skilled manager of outside vendors and external development resources. You bring to bear an excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems. And you thrive in a fast-paced environment that demands multi-tasking and fast decision-making.
