Sorry, in-house-only types, but a history handling high-demand clients who can’t be disappointed is essential.

Let’s talk tech: you’ve memorized every line of code underlying open-source relational databases, you make PHP web frameworks for fun during lunch, and you’ve apologized before for getting a little too heated while debating version-control systems. You believe whatever the workload, there’s an API for that.

But you don’t bury your nose in code so deeply that you neglect your personal skills. Social and professional communication skills are what make the MD a tech leader, and you’ve got the writing ability to extend them to your many internal communications documents. You consider inspiration essential to any software development model — all of which you flex on, but especially scrum (or a similar agile approach), as well as waterfall.
