Museum POS Support. Ticketing Systems Support. Technical Support Engineer. Point-of-sale Rockstar. IT Support. Hospitality or Retail POS experience. If any of those phrases describe your background, and you’re able to work on-site in D.C. five days a week, please keep reading!
A new museum for a major cultural institution is assembling the team that will power the technology behind every ticket scan, retail purchase, and guest interaction. They’re hiring Museum Technology Support Engineers (multiple levels, multiple roles) to support the systems that keep the experience running smoothly, i.e., ticketing platforms, POS systems, kiosks, scanners, payment devices, and all the infrastructure that connects them.
This is a hands-on technical role with a strong customer service component. When these systems work, everything flows. When they don’t, you’re the person who can step in, troubleshoot quickly, and keep operations moving. You’ll work closely with operations teams and vendors to maintain uptime, resolve issues, deploy hardware, and help shape how technology support works from day one.
What’s it going to take to score an interview?
- 3–5+ years supporting POS, ticketing, or hospitality systems
- Experience troubleshooting revenue-generating systems (retail POS, restaurants, events, theaters, sports venues, etc.)
- Hands-on work with POS terminals, kiosks, barcode scanners, receipt printers, payment readers, Mac/Windows devices
- Early career help desk or IT support experience
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and customer-facing communication skills
- Ability to work occasional nights/weekends and be on-site
Bonus Points For:
- Apple Genius Bar experience
- Experience in retail, hospitality, events, or cultural venues
- Familiarity with PCI compliance, ITIL, or enterprise ticketing platforms
At the senior level, they’re also looking for someone who can lead escalations, support upgrades and deployments, and mentor teammates.
You should take this meeting because …
- First: you’ll be joining the founding technology team of a brand-new cultural institution.
- Second: this role sits right where technology meets real-world experience: Your work directly impacts visitors, operations, and revenue every single day.
- Third: the organization offers strong benefits, professional development, and a collaborative team environment.
If you’ve built your career supporting POS or ticketing systems in retail, hospitality, or events, this is a chance to apply that expertise somewhere unique and meaningful. Get in touch with us today!
