The Hired Guns are seeking a dynamic and, quite frankly, brilliant Product Director to plan and develop innovative features and components for the website and emerging platforms of our client, a major television network.
As a seasoned product visionary, you have already led development on a variety of web-based video experiences that integrate social media, site search, SEO, and other components. Given the best-in-class (and often first-in-class) products at this network, it’s ideal if you’ve already driven big product ideas at a large digital media company or gained similar experience elsewhere. Be ready to present examples of your work that have been released into the wild and been under public load.
The cross-functional teams at this company are deep into Scrum and other Agile methodologies, so you must be intimately familiar with them — as well as typical web development cycles (and their intensity). You should also know your way around templated architectures that employ reusable, configurable components. As far as software, we would expect Indesign, Omnigraffle, and Visio all to be in your toolkit.
Working with the design, sales, editorial, research, and biz dev departments, you will map out the goals and requirements for innovative product features, keeping a close eye on schedules and budget, and also ensuring that they will accomplish defined goals for engagement, viewership, impressions, and other metrics.
You will be responsible for creating page wireframes, generating market research documents, and producing detailed specs and road maps that cover every stage of your products’ development. For this non-design position, a deep understanding of user behavioral modes and interactive modeling is essential. It will come as no surprise that you’ll be expected to move the needle on the business success of your products — but the beautiful thing is, you’ll get the credit and recognition when you do.
There’s lots of fun, enlightening work in video and apps emerging here, and you’ll be central to what comes next. You’ll never be bored. And if you want to be on the GM track at a major media company — you want in on this opportunity.
