This Hired Guns client, one of the most trusted and respected names in news, is looking for a Product Lead to take ownership of their site’s Entertainment channel and essentially act like a “mini GM” as though it were a stand-alone site. You will have P&L accountability and will be tasked with taking traffic and revenue for this channel to new heights. We are also looking for mini GMs for other channels on the site, so if entertainment news doesn’t get you going, but Health, Tech, Travel, Politics, Lifestyle or World News does, we still want to hear from you.
With your years in product management, product marketing, operations, or relevant consulting experience, you possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy. In other words, you’ve got big-picture vision, yet still have firm command of the details that will turn that vision into reality. It’s important that you have distinctive problem-solving and analytical capabilities, along with a bias for action and results. You’ll need to be knowledgeable in media and technology development best practices as well as product management methodology.
As Product Lead, you’ll spend a significant portion of your time measuring and analyzing existing products for opportunities to innovate, improve, and grow section traffic and monetization, while providing measurable benefits to the site’s users. You will be the go-to Gun for ideation, development decisions, business case input, testing and analysis, market plans, and ongoing local support for product marketing.
The role involves a good share of teamwork: you’ll need to develop strong collaborative partnerships with the group’s digital ad sales, editorial, product development, media technology and media marketing teams. You will work with the strategy and partnerships team to form and manage biz dev relationships and will partner with other teams as needed to develop and execute on identified opportunities.
This is a newly created role, and we are looking for someone innovative and entrepreneurial to really make the most of it.
If you have been looking for the fast track to a GM role, welcome to the Grand Prix, baby! This is a chance to put your career trajectory into overdrive.
