The Hired Guns are seeking a Product Manager with expertise in leading quick-turnaround executions. You’ll define and build a suite of enhancements to an enterprise IT service platform for a leading New York healthcare institution. This is a four-month contract gig running from April through July. Sure, you could think of this as a short-term gig. But the Gun who wins this one is the Agile superstar who wants a true acid test of their skills: whoever hires you next will be blown away by what you did in a few short months!
Nitty Gritty
Those physicians, nurses, surgeons, scientists who are saving lives and making new discoveries, and everyone supporting them, are all using computers, phones, networking gear, websites, intranet … and stuff breaks. Like any large enterprise, they’ve got IT service and help desk applications that by and large get the job done, but they’re not always pretty or intuitive. For the 60,000 people working here, that spells lost productivity. The good news is that they’re onboarding a new third-party platform, offering a golden opportunity for a strong product person to come in and make everything better.
You guessed it: that’s where you come in. You’re going to parachute in, and in a high-impact four months, you’ll develop requirements by talking to stakeholders and users, then keep that perspective top-of-mind as you lay out a product roadmap, build user stories and personas, define MVP, create wireframes and workflows, user acceptance testing plans, and all the Agile elements that ensure the customer’s needs are understood and met by the technical team.
Along the way, you’ll be imparting Agile principles and product thinking to your colleagues on the team, most of whom are more ops- or project-management-oriented. You’ll be defining KPIs around cost and time savings to deliver a plan for growth objectives and ROI. And you’ll keep all stakeholders in the loop at all times.
Hired Gun Profile
You have 5 or so years of experience in product management and business analysis, with a decided flair for design and UX/UI. You’re highly organized with strong communication skills (spoken and written). Agile scrum team experience is pretty much mandatory. Strong familiarity with JIRA a must. Top marks if you’ve been a Scrum master and have worked in QA or software development. Bonus points for having worked in healthcare IT or on service management tools and products. Impress us with your knowledge of Design Thinking, User Story Mapping, and System Thinking, and you’ll be a shoo-in.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, marital status, disability, or any other status protected by applicable law.
