The Hired Guns seek an Executive Producer for a top digital agency. Stand up if you have the exceptional project management and client-facing skills to deliver complex website builds on time and on budget!
Nitty Gritty
For the two to three big-fish clients on your lines at any given time, engagement management is all on you. Key elements are SOWs, budgets, timelines, resourcing, and vendor management. Your juniors may know how to handle any one of these, but you’re the one who can run them in concert.
You’ll be juggling both clients and vendors to create perfect, complex websites. If you’re an agency producer with only experiential or campaign work, this is not the role for you. Multimillion-dollar site builds are the first requirement, and any experience in apps, social, VR, etc. are merely gravy.
This agency wants someone who really wants to have a seat at the table from a client perspective — you’ll work collaboratively with all stakeholders to drive everything from concept creation to strategy formation to production oversight. You have full backing to bring in needed resources from tools to talent, and assemble them into success.
What Success Looks Like
The client is on the hunt for a strategic partner who’s going to come in and, their words, “teach our old dogs new tricks.” You’ll take full ownership, internally and externally, of each campaign to find the right market for its product and translate Developer-ese into Clientspeak. You’ll read between the lines to keep the client smiling, resolving concerns before they even come up. Preserving client loyalty is your top priority.
Hired Gun Profile
These days the agency world has become hyper-siloed, and project management can often be pushed to the shadows with little or no client interaction. Not so at this branding shop. Because they’re working on complex challenges, everyone has a voice. You are that rare Executive Producer who knows (and enjoys) both account management and project management. You’re no stranger to large technical website builds. Past experience working with B2B clients is a must.
Because you’ve done everything from database to front-end coding, your statements of work can clearly and concisely explain strategies to clients without a cloud of buzzwords. You’re a translator between technology and execution, managing client expectations, anticipating and side-stepping problems before they arise, and keeping the train on its tracks.
You have strong code muscles from lifting heavy websites for the likes of financial services behemoths, multi-nationals, or other B2B2C orgs (like non-profits and universities). You’re proud of those times you hit deadlines despite a dearth of budget or calendar (although you’ll be given plenty of both here, because you’ll be working with pros who don’t under-deliver).
Inside Skinny
Working at this agency requires large doses of passion, discipline, hard work, and intelligence. In return, you’ll get to show up every day at an exciting workplace where your great ideas will thrive.
Net-Net
This agency is growing like gangbusters and has a fabulous blue-chip client roster. If you like variety, this place has plenty of it, as you rotate through different teams and clients rather than staying yoked to the same group of people on every project.
