One of the web’s most innovative video platforms is looking for its next Senior Product Manager. The right Gun for this gig has considerable experience with both web- and device-based video and will bring some serious electricity to product strategy discussions. You’ll also need a healthy dose of business and managerial acumen to excel here.
This is a young company that’s working hard to build a brand for itself. They’re working to turn themselves into a destination for consumers by publishing high-quality episodic web content. They’re kind of like the anti-YouTube: quality — not quantity — rules here. If you’re a Product Manager with plenty of experience building high-quality experiences with lots of curated content, this may be the perfect next step for you.
You’re a master of pragmatic product design. You understand that the prettiest thing isn’t always the right thing, and you know how to build products that appeal to both consumers and prosumers. You’ve also worked with ad apps in the past, digging deep into products that generate ad revenue through video.
Analytics packages aren’t a mystery to you and you know how to interpret their data and turn it into actionable strategies. You’re also a masterful diplomat who knows how to gather requirements from multiple departments and weave them all into Product gold while stepping on as few toes as possible.
Much of your day-to-day will revolve around speaking to key stakeholders and distilling business needs into functional requirements. You’ll be working with the engineers to keep products focused and on schedule, as well as coordinating with outsourced vendors. Documentation for all of the above goes without saying.
You’ll also be one of two Product Managers here, so it won’t be all on you.
Content discovery is a problem here, so if you’ve ever solved a similar problem — perhaps through clever use of related content or something similar — you’ll get big-time bonus points. You can also earn a few more points in your column by having demonstrated expertise in SEO and a strong understanding of SLDC best practices.
This is a small, hungry company that’s passionate about high-quality, episodic web content. If you’re a Product Manager with a healthy blend of vision and strategy and deep experience with video content and ad-driven revenue, this might just be your next home.
