The Hired Guns are seeking a Senior Product Manager, Big Data and Personalization to dream up and build tools and processes that will deploy big data as a way for a giant brand in the retail space to climb to the top of the charts in both e-commerce and brick-and-mortar store experiences.
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the organization and why they need to hire you!
As Senior Product Manager, Big Data and Personalization, you’ll bring your technical and business acumen to bear to lead a program of cross-functional projects that support customer transformation by driving the adoption of new technologies, processes, and data standards. Working with Data Governance, Engineering, Digital, Analytics, and other key stakeholders, you’ll gather business requirements, deliver projects, monitor value, identify opportunities to streamline processes, and communicate opportunities to stakeholders from multiple levels of the organization.Your data platform expertise, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and behavior, will enable you to create a strategic roadmap for the creation of personalization experiences that will surprise and delight on a one-to-one level.
This role is the first of its kind at this company, and it will require you to be a strategic thinker who can not only change the way the company uses customer data, but also to get your hands dirty in the data itself. You will be an evangelist in building stakeholders’ understanding of what data can do: how to use it, action it and scale it.
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
We’re looking for someone with at least 7 years of experience in product management, preferably with time in the retail industry (omnichannel is an extra plus) and exposure to agile methodologies. You could also be a fit if you’re coming from adtech, finance, or media, so long as your past companies have had complex personalization experiences and mature data governance capabilities, including standardized data dictionaries across multiple systems and business units.
You’ve got a degree in a quantitative field (computer science, math, statistics, economics, engineering, or similar subject); an MBA is a plus. We’d love to talk if you’ve designed an enterprise-scale data-migration strategy leveraging industry best practices, especially if you’ve onboarded a customer data platform.
You’re a superb communicator with an impressive ability to grasp enterprise-wide data needs and translate them into solutions that benefit all core functions of the organization. You’re a master at the use of storytelling to develop, articulate, and defend a point of view to audiences from different areas at all levels. Resilient and resourceful, you know that “things change” and you won’t always win backing, and you know how to balance your belief in your own ideas with the viewpoints of fellow stakeholders.
The Inside Skinny
Why you should quit your job right now and join this organization!
Deep down you’re a strategist, who happens to look at the world through the lens of a passionate belief in data’s capacity to reshape an organization. This high-impact role is perfect for you: it’s your chance to engender a culture of data-driven decision-making and innovation that elevates this beloved retail brand to the leading edge of omnichannel retail experience.
