The Hired Guns are seeking a Data Science Analyst to join the business intelligence team of a professional association with over 300,000 members. Like many companies, this organization is on a quest in 2019 to build itself into much more of a data-driven company, and you will be at the epicenter of making that happen.
What Success Looks Like
This is a brand-new role, and as such we need someone to come in and take our client’s data game to the next level. Specifically, this role is aligned with revenue — and your valuable insights will be used by the marketing team to more effectively help them spend each and every marketing dollar to attract more members — and higher quality ones at that. In year one, you will have built an attribution framework to quantify the impact of marketing activities and devised a means for using metrics to tell stories beyond the raw data, Communicating the actionable insights, not just the numbers, is key in this role.
This long-standing professional services organization offers education, certification, conferences, resources, research, content and networking to its members who purchase annual subscriptions via their companies.
In this role, you will analyze large data sets from multiple sources to identify trends and opportunities for customer acquisition and conversion. You will visualize your insights using traditional and digital analytics tools and bring your experience analyzing conversion funnels in an ecommerce setting to our client.
You’ll also be charged with researching new tools, software and approaches to push your own skills (and the team’s competencies) forward as you grow.
The team you’ll be joining is aiming to convert the entire organization to making data-driven decisions. You will have a leg up if you can come in with authority and something to prove.

If you’re the right person for this job, you’ve had experience deriving actionable insights from large data sets to influence business decisions at an enterprise level. Experience with attribution modeling as it pertains to marketing campaigns is a must, as is experience with establishing dashboards for leadership and data visualization for stakeholder storytelling.
In your current role, you’ve worked to improve data collection and validity, and you take great pride in the strategy derived from your findings. A strong background in data science is a must. You need to be an excel whiz and ideally have a Masters of Science (MS) in Applied Math, Statistics or other related fields.
Strong candidates will have the technical chops to draw together the threads in a multi-platform/multi-stage effort for analysis and attribution. Top candidates can both educate the team and explain to the brass the framework and insights.
