The Hired Guns are seeking a UX Designer, Mobile App to team up with a leader in e-commerce and brick-and-mortar retail and raise their mobile app experience to new heights!
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the organization and why they need to hire you!
You know this brand—they’re an iconic retailer that is among the top ten e-commerce companies in the country. After ten years of double-digit growth, they’re looking for a UX Designer who’s a mobile app genius to help them reimagine what mobile apps can do to revolutionize in-store and at-home shopping.
Reporting to the Director of App and Omni, you will be the lead UXer charged with developing an elevated customer-centric shopping app. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders in Product Management, Engineering and Analytics responsible for all aspects of app experience — both refining and sharpening their current capabilities and dreaming up new ones. You’ll also work closely with partners within the Design and UX organization who are innovating everything from product search to checkout to omnichannel.
Together you will dream up and deliver groundbreaking results for the new app experience for both native iOS and Android. Your work on the app will elevate the in-store experience by introducing in-store wayfinding, contactless checkout, reserving a fitting room, and much more. On the home-tech side, your ideas will push the envelope by adding LIDAR scanning, try-on-at-home technology, and other innovations, infusing each experience with a seamless element of delight.
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
To put it simply—you have a documented history of building amazing mobile apps. Your current manager would cry if they knew you were interviewing, and former bosses feel deep regret that you’re no longer in their employ. Your superpower is predicting what a customer needs before they do, but your human side adds empathy and beauty to your design.
You’re constantly challenging tech teams, designers, and fellow UXers to keep up with you, not the other way around. We’re talking about someone who knows how to build apps that are modern, intuitive, frictionless, ambient, and personalized.
To be considered for this job, you must have a gorgeous portfolio that demonstrates a strong visual aesthetic as beautiful as it is innovative. Ideally, your expertise was initially developed at a top-tier visual design program where you mastered the fundamentals, with an emphasis on human-centered design.
Beyond excellent app UX design skills, you’re also a strategic thinker—someone who plays well with stakeholders, whether they’re in Product, Engineering, Analytics, or Merchandising, because at the end of the day, you all want the same thing—the most incredible app possible.
The Inside Skinny
Why you should quit your job right now and join this organization!

With this kind of team, resources, and support, you’ll have an opportunity to put your stamp on the organization and establish your place as a groundbreaker in your field.
