Salary range: $63,000 to $93,000 per year, depending on experience

This influential foundation/media site is spearheading a movement to transform American education via solutions-based journalism—by telling stories of what’s working in schools, and what’s not. To deliver on this mission, they’re looking for a highly savvy Social Media Editor—preferably with newsroom experience—who loves writing and is passionate about social media to drive audience growth, engagement, and retention.
As Social Media Editor, you’ll be responsible for planning and implementing a winning programming calendar for this company’s primary social channel and independently writing and editing thoughtful, pithy, and engaging social media posts (5-10 per day) while maintaining a consistent brand voice. In this highly collaborative role, you’ll work closely with content creators and designers to obtain compelling visuals, video animations, and infographics. Plus, you’ll develop, execute, and optimize paid social media campaigns, including determining which posts to promote, A/B testing creative, and creating custom audiences to improve targeting.

How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
We’re looking for a highly skilled, data-driven writer who’s fluent in all social channels and has at least 3 years of experience operating social media for an established news org, brand, digital media company, or national nonprofit with a large following. Experience working with creative teams, such as editors, designers, and video producers is a requirement.
You must be a master of leading social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) and their native business tools, i.e. Meta Business Suite (Facebook and Instagram Ads), Twitter Ads, and Twitter Analytics, as well as tools like Sprout Social and Hootsuite. And if you’re a TikTok maven with a brilliant turn of phrase, we can practically cut your first paycheck now. An ability to read and interpret data and use it to inform your work is a must-have, and familiarity with pre-K-through-12 education topics and issues is preferred.
