Nitty Gritty

You’ll place yourself between the top-notch design team and the top-notch tech team, and you’ll apply your familiarity with ecommerce best practices to the puzzle of how to build out a reliable, intuitive system to capture membership data, payment status and donation history in order to facilitate searches, create and track recurring payments and the like. You’ll also be laying the underlying tech groundwork for adopting the latest and greatest payment methods, the implementation of which is an important goal for the company.

You know this, or you’d have already stopped reading, but let’s state it anyway: A crucial part of the work will involve data hygiene, making sure that aliases and multiple addresses are linked to a single (correct) account. You’ll also strive to create UX and systems that map to very straightforward processes, so that users can understand them and intuit what they can do with them.

You’re mid-career, with increasingly senior engineering positions at recognizable digital companies, where you’ve had significant exposure to finance and accounting. You have a very strong handle on such aspects of the work as recurring payments, PCI compliance and security issues.

You’re a natural systems thinker who loves solving problems and who quickly appreciates the system-wide repercussions of a new feature. You thrive on cross-disciplinary and highly collaborative work. You absolutely love creating new things, and owning them. You know enough about this kind of work to have informed opinions about things like how to deal with abandoned carts or out-of-stock items without decreasing customer satisfaction.
