The Hired Guns are working with a digital media game-changer that’s getting ready to build something awesome in the online sports news space. Are you the sort of enthusiastic, hyper-organized, and ambitious Technical Director they need? (If it turns out that you are, they will be more than happy to help you relocate down to sunny Atlanta!)
You’re a star in your field. You’ve managed a significant set of wins — you’ve planned, executed, and successfully delivered on several large-scale multi-platform digital properties. You’ve also got lots of software development knowledge in your blood, as well as an extremely deep and nuanced understanding of all current and emerging web and mobile technologies.
As someone who has spent a significant amount of time managing tech teams, you know how to get the best out of talented developers; what’s more, you have significant Drupal, LAMP, PHP, and general front- and back-end web dev chops of your own. You’re a genuine fan and thought leader when it comes to lean and Agile development, and you’re skilled at helping others see why such methodologies make sense in fast-paced, data-driven environments.
Oh, and you get a big-board bonus for being keyed-in and passionate about sports of all kinds.
Be ready to get a little blue-sky — this is a job for someone who’s ready for the aggressive deadlines, the unpredictability, and the sometimes-nebulous business requirements that are more common in startups than in corporate-level positions. Working in your own startup-like division, but with true corporate might behind you, you’ll be overseeing the technology team as you all work together to craft a sports site that’s ready to take on all the worthy competitors already out there. Needless to say, this requires an organizational fiend who’s as good at high-level strategy as she or he is at making sure that the mission-critical details are taken care of.
We are looking for someone with true startup grit — who can create a plan, build a team and still get into the mix and pound a few nails. If you are the kind of Tech Director who would prefer not to roll up your sleeves, this may not be the gig for you. Tell us your start-up story for the extra point.
If you’re itching to get in on the ground floor of a major cool project — and are also prepared to go into a bit of overtime to get it off the launch pad — then we’d definitely love to hear from you.
