You’ve put in a few years now providing support to trading systems in a more or less traditional environment; now’s your chance to leap on over to the exciting world of blockchain and cryptocurrency. This company is building a platform for trading crypto on a system analogous to, but a few steps ahead of, the ones you’ve been working on. Don’t get left behind. Instead, bring your trading-systems expertise on over to help provide mission-critical support to this outfit that’s on its way toward remaking the international markets.
Nitty Gritty
You’ll be supporting and monitoring this set of proprietary trading applications, in testing and production, helping to deploy and configure the software and ensure that the technologies operate flawlessly. Leaning heavily on what you already know about electronic trading systems that cross asset classes and geographies, you’ll support core-market connectivity, correspond with exchanges, and help ensure that key trading opportunities are never missed because of a lack of system availability or because of human configuration errors that could just as well have been automated. And speaking of automation, you’ll develop a set of proprietary process automation and monitoring tools. You’ll handle troubleshooting, working on a regular basis with colleagues in the core development teams, back office personnel and QA engineers. In other words, you’re the trading-system expert, and you’ll be looked to for constant support on an immense variety of potential issues.
Hired Gun Profile
Five or so years into your bright career now, you’ve worked for at least one prop trading house supporting their electronic system. You’re completely at home with FIX as well as alternative exchange protocols and network communications. Nobody outperforms you when it comes to troubleshooting trading systems. You know your systems backwards and forwards, and your colleagues are always amazed at your systematic, methodical, and yet intuitive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Along the way, you’ve gained a few years’ worth of experience in script development (Python, Perl) and working with SQL. Linux and Windows are your playthings.
Besides your analytical orientation, you’re nimble and flexible, willing to jump in and work where and when needed, and while you have a deep sense of personal accountability, you keep your cool when things don’t seem to be working out and the clock is ticking. You prioritize tasks well, and you make it a point to communicate clearly about what you’re working on, what your needs are, and what has to happen for the machine to hum along.
Inside Skinny
