If a picture really is worth a thousand words, these guys have a lot to say. This Hired Guns client is the largest subscription-based stock photo marketplace in the world. They are on a quest to build better products that will elevate the work of their content creators and help publishers and creatives discover great work. They are a pure-play technology company and are aggressive in their Agile, not only for product development but in how they run their entire business. And they need a User Research Director with an opinion or two to take them to the next level.
You’ve spent a healthy amount of time in user research and testing. You’ve got a deep knowledge of best practices for user research and are equally adept at qualitative and quantitative research. You have extensive, hands-on experience with the entirety of the online survey process. That means you can handle everything from developing questionnaires, beta testing, and sample selection to data interpretation and delivery of insights. This means you’re comfortable with survey tools like Surveygizmo, Confirmit, Qualtrics, etc. Your skill set includes interface design and human computer interaction research, enough understanding of software development and technology to identify which possibilities are most viable, and an excellent knack for contextual inquiry, ethnography, and persona creation.
It’s really important you feel passionate about improving the customer experience and championing the customer’s voice. Highly collaborative, you do good work with a degree of independence, but you really thrive when you’re balancing multiple projects.
As the User Research Director, you will be tasked with driving all aspects of product and user experience research and with providing actionable, informed insights to empower fact-based strategic and tactical decisions. Strategy, execution, and analysis all fall under your umbrella, as you’ll oversee entire research processes from the initial stakeholder consult through to the presentation of your recommendations.
Because these guys run fast and furious in an Agile environment, you’ll be charged with doing on-site user testing every week. That means bringing in participants, observing, analyzing and driving product change through your recommendations in real time. And because this is a Director role, you are expected to foster cooperative, productive relationships across the board.
Any experience you’ve garnered in cognitive science, pattern recognition, or statistics will prove to be a real advantage. You’ll handle product research, marketing research, and industry research.
This role gives you the chance to make the most of your excellent skills in translating data into insights, then asks you to be the mouthpiece for communicating your findings.
