One of NYC’s top start-ups for 2012 in the AdTech arena is searching for their next VP of Product Management. This is a seat-at-the-table role at a company where passion and innovation reign supreme; the team here is motivated, wicked smart, and extremely dedicated to building next-generation video technology that powers media.
This is a well established “emerging growth” company. They’re well-financed and respected in the space. And have a REAL shot at building a billion dollar business. Your job is to be the “super-sizer” and we need that to be your core competency as an executive team member. They are growing like gangbusters and your job is to scale baby scale.
They’re not looking for the hoodie-wearing conceptual type that might have come at an earlier juncture. You’re going to be leading an established team that is craving mentorship and all of your people want to up their game too. You love this and excel at leading others. To land this role, you’re going to need both exceptional Product vision and heavy-duty management punch. You can build, lead, and inspire a diverse Product team, and you’re a strong teacher to talented junior team members. You’re a powerful manager with a strong knowledge of infrastructure and execution. You’re the guy who carries the ball after the first steps are done. You can take the hand-off and help the product scale as the company grows.
By the way, you’re agile. You’ve got a track record of speeding up teams and you love to get into the Scrum.
From a technical standpoint, you’ve spent time on the advertiser or publisher side of AdTech. An understanding of the media ecosystem is key here — but you need to hail from the SaaS side of the party. That means you’re no stranger to the deployment and use of leading analytics applications. And you’ve built more dashboards than you can shake a stick at. At the core of all this, of course, is a passion for and facility with current and emerging video technology and how it will be measured and acted on. You need to have a POV, and it wouldn’t hurt if you liked to go on the “speaker circuit,” evangelizing how you see the future of media and accountability unfolding.
This is a company with real revenue and real market traction for a product with real-world applications. This is an organization that’s about to do very big things with you in a mission critical role. For the first 6 months, much of your day-to-day will be focused on refining the product offering to make sure it’s ready for that. As you get that squared away you’ll begin to own and develop a raft of products for this company, develop strategic and fully executable product road maps, and manage the products post-launch. You’re also going to be asked to be intelligent about iterating the product to address market changes.
This is an extremely entrepreneurial company, and they expect the same attitude from their VP of Product. They also expect you to be a collegial team player and have genuine passion for building next-level video marketing systems. Divas, prima donnas, and tortured geniuses with no interpersonal skills need not apply.
This is a VP of Product gig that will take your visibility to the next level. If you’re an experienced Product exec with experience taking a product from the early stages to big-time market success, let us hear from you.
