The Hired Guns are seeking a Brand Marketing Communications Manager for one of the world’s leading family-office management firms. Reporting to the SVP, Brand Marketing, you’ll be charged with driving strategic communications, developing messaging for sales enablement and relationship management, and more, always keeping on-target with the firm’s strategy and values. (Important: this role may have a “manager” title, but it’s the equivalent of at least a director-level spot at any other firm.)
Nitty Gritty
It’s your job to ensure that the values of this highly respected firm — trustworthiness, impeccable service, a laser-focus on the customer’s needs, and the highest ethical standards — come through loud and clear in every communication with our clients’ high net worth (HNW) audience. You’ll develop a thorough understanding of the firm’s strategic objectives, positioning, brand voice, and product-service offerings so that you can create consistent and engaging content across multiple channels. You’ll create content for marketing collateral (print as well as digital), internal communications that spark employee engagement, materials for events and conferences, talking points, explainers and FAQs for the wealth advisors so that they can educate customers on new products and services, and ad hoc communications.
If that sounds like a lot, you’re absolutely right, so you’ll need to be an outstanding project manager to keep all these balls in the air. This is a highly visible role with non-stop collaboration at all levels of the firm, including top leadership.
Hired Gun Profile
You have significant experience working in marketing or communications, ideally in financial services, and preferably with a wealth management or private banking firm or division. (Similar experience in a luxury category such as real estate or high-end hospitality could also be a good entree. Tenure at a PR/communications agency that supports high net worth/prestige clients is a plus.) You are an excellent writer and editor who can swiftly internalize brand positioning and strategy and express it accurately and consistently in the content you create. You have strong project management skills and are able to plan and execute effectively to deliver multiple concurrent initiatives on schedule.
You’re adept at working closely with top executives, with great presence and the ability to command a room. You are confident and direct, but always respectful, a superb collaborator and communicator. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, graceful under pressure, a skilled juggler of multiple deliverables. You’re highly independent and know how to roll with it when priorities and deadlines inevitably change. You love working with a team of exceptional colleagues, and you’re all about elevating the best ideas in the room, not grabbing credit for yourself.
(We know there are a lot of great research analysts out there, but the client has said that if your focus is investment research, this position is probably not a fit for you.)
Inside Skinny
Bonus points if you bring experience in executive speechwriting, press releases, internal communications, and creating corporate communications strategy, positioning, and messaging.
Again, despite the “manager” title, this is a high-level position, the equivalent of a director or even VP at other firms.
Net Net
If you’re looking for a company with a strong familial culture where you can spend at least the next decade of your career, you’re already home.
