Calling all high-level branding and marketing leaders! The Hired Guns has just partnered with a well-established hospitality group that owns a multinational portfolio of unique hotels that combine the hip with the historic. How would you like to be their first-ever Chief Marketing Officer, with marching orders to establish their entire marketing and branding strategy?
Nitty Gritty
The dynamic leadership team of this hotel group has decided that now is the time to bust out into the public’s consciousness with frame-breaking brand narratives for the individual properties, each with its own vibe and personality, and for the group as a whole. As Chief Marketing Officer, you’ll swoop in and take charge of all global branding, communications, and image-making that will set up the stories. You’ll deliver by shaping the overall guest experience: programming, events, launches, openings. And you’ll reinforce it all by overseeing digital media, e-commerce, social media and PR activities. You’ll manage the internal and outside agency resources you’ll need to execute, and you’ll build a crack marketing team around you.
You’ll have a big canvas to paint on, but it’s not carte blanche: you’ll be pitching your ideas constantly to the leadership. It’s a little bit “Shark Tank” in the best possible way: they’ve got the financial firepower to make your dreams a reality, but you’ve got to prove the business case for each execution with a solid strategy and voluminous preparation ahead of time and rigorous analysis of the data and results after the fact. You’ll have to have the grit and diplomacy to iterate and adjust, while always challenging the leadership to push the envelope.
Hired Gun Profile
You are a marketing, messaging, and branding genius with a creative, edgy outlook and a track record of creating and expanding the entire package from core idea to execution of amazing physical experiences (maybe in the hotel space, of course, but maybe luxury real estate, co-working, retail, travel, clubs, gyms). Or, maybe you worked for a marketing or PR agency creating amazing programs for one of those segments. What matters is you can create a story that makes your audience want to make you part of their story.
You’re a master at pitching your ideas: a superb communicator and a resourceful negotiator. You know how to challenge stakeholders with radical concepts, but you’re resilient enough to know that you won’t win their backing the first time, every time. What’s important is that you’ve got the competitive drive to go for it with passion and courage.
You’re an inspiring leader and a master at conceiving and executing original and innovative ideas. Juggling multi-million dollar budgets is all in a day’s work, as are handling dozens of partners and vendors, not to mention internal team members. You’re the wizard of bringing it all together, on deadline. And you’ve got the tools and talent to look at the data and analyze the results.
Inside Skinny
We’d love to hear from high-level marketing people from one of the big players in the hotel space. But you’ll need to tell us how you shook up conventional wisdom and took things in a fresh new direction. Our client definitely doesn’t want business as usual.
