Salary range: $60,000 to $75,000 per year
- Use your voice and vision to tell stories that will help change the conversation around healthcare in America at an org that is committed to advancing DEIB (and is actually taking steps to change behavior and culture)
- Work at the intersection of policy and everyday life; talk to policy people and reimagine how critical healthcare info is spun into compelling storytelling to diverse audiences
- Have a great work-life balance in this fully-remote role that gives a personal health and wellness day every month and an annual company-wide wellness week every year (in addition to PTO)
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the company and why they need to hire you!
For over two decades, this nationally renowned organization has provided leadership and support to consumer organizations, policymakers, and foundations, working to ensure that America’s healthcare system serves everyone – especially historically marginalized communities. They just launched a new website and brand identity earlier this year, grounded in race equity and health justice, so it’s a really exciting time to join! And that’s where you come in:
In conjunction with their rebrand and expansion, they’re looking for a strong, advocacy-focused writer who is committed to race equity and health justice to join their growing communications team. As Copywriter and Web Manager, you will support the day-to-day activities of the communications team at this pivotal time for the organization. You’ll play an integral role in telling the story of their impactful work and the people who are a part of it by writing, editing and maintaining a body of compelling written material and website content that is reflective of their brand values and voice. You will research, write and edit with an eye toward race equity to ensure written content properly reflects how racism and inequities intertwine with the nation’s public health policies. Support senior leadership and programmatic teams to develop messages that resonate and drive audiences to action (e.g., impacted communities, local state and federal partners, donors, policymakers, etc.).
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
Working on healthcare, advocacy and racial equity issues is extremely important to you. You have 3+ years in a similar role, and you’re an extremely strong writer with an advocacy lens. You can take complex policy and healthcare jargon and distill it into digestible and compelling storytelling that’s accessible to diverse audiences. It’s okay if you haven’t worked in healthcare advocacy, but you must be open to engaging in the conversation around healthcare in a big way. Perhaps you’re coming from a newsroom, marketing firm, or an agency, and you’re ready to work for an advocacy-driven org and have real impact. Big plus if you’re bilingual. Experience with WordPress and CMS systems is preferred. You must have a writing portfolio and clips (please don’t send samples “cold”; we’ll ask for them at the appropriate stage in the process).
The Inside Skinny
Why you should quit your job right now and join this team!
In an uncertain economic and media landscape, this is a really nice place to land. You’ll get to work at an advocacy organization and apply your storytelling experience to change real-world health disparities. Win-Win for all.
