We’re not alone in having a ton of good things to say about this company, which is why we’re so pleased to give you an opportunity to work there. The firm specializes in delivering brand and market research to huge and well-known companies, and it’s looking for someone well-versed in brand strategy and consumer insights to manage some of its most important accounts. It’s deeply interesting and exciting work: delving into the client’s industry and business to figure out the right questions to ask customers, and then studying hard to deliver the answers that will help them move the needle. If that sounds as fun to you as it does to us, keep on a-reading.
Nitty Gritty
Once you’re assigned to those big-fish accounts, it’ll be up to you to sit down with them and ask questions until you’re an expert on their industry and on the specific challenges each company is facing. Together, you’ll develop a strategy for gathering the insights they need, and will take end-to-end responsibility for executing smartly designed survey projects. You’ll lean on your deeply analytical bent as well as your strong writing skills to develop the right questions to be asked of the right people in the right way. You’ll train your clients on the platforms they’ll use for collecting the intelligence, you’ll program the surveys and you’ll moderate them while they’re in-field. Once the data comes in, you’ll analyze it carefully, synthesize your findings, and deliver the key insights, actionable findings and strategic recommendations through PowerPoint and in-person presentations. And of course all through this project you’ll be nurturing the relationship with the account and grooming it for future engagements.
Hired Gun Profile
You’ve been doing this kind of data-supported consumer-insights work for three to five years now, during which you’ve shown a pretty dazzling ability to sort through data and commentary, pick out the relevant narrative threads, and distill it down to a message that resonates with your audience because of how well you understand what’s on their minds and what’s at stake. You’re fascinated with and passionate about brands, how they’re perceived, and how and why they thrive and sometimes fail to thrive.
Customers and colleagues are often impressed by your ability to plunge into a new business area and ramp up with astonishing speed. The secret to this, of course, is your natural curiosity about how everything works, and your humility which allows you to ask basic questions without worrying about whether you’re impressing people.
You have outstanding communication skills grounded in empathy for your listeners and readers. That is, you address yourself to people based on what they know and don’t know, and you strive for clarity without fail. Finally, you’re affable and collaborative, with a good sense of humor and a desire to be part of a happy, driven team.
