Here’s a chance for someone who lives and breathes design to own the entire design/UX ecosphere on the digital marketing team of a storied-and-still-thriving publishing company. As the role expands, you’ll oversee more and more, since you were here first and were hand-selected not just for your data-focused, UX-intensive design chops but for your leadership potential. If you’ve been at it for a while and are ready to take the leap up to strategic management, this is your ticket.
Nitty Gritty
As part of an eight-person team, you’ll work with content, development and engineering folks to build, launch, monitor, recalibrate and relaunch marketing products across platforms. Maybe that means implementing a website update, or building a new app, or designing the company’s social media presence. On such a small team, you’ll gladly carry a no-job-too-big-or-small sign, sometimes taking a leadership role and sometimes working as an individual contributor, but always having fun.
A big part of your role will be in translating input from user testing and personalizing design based on findings that the digital group has gathered, so be sure to bring your analytical hat.
Hired Gun Profile
In-house digital branding work is a significant component of your experience. Either you’ve already taken up a leadership role, or you’ve had the increasing responsibility that signals that you’re poised for it. You’re naturally collaborative, outgoing, personable and fair. Your communication style is clear and effective — people seldom wonder what you’re thinking or what you expect.
You’re extremely comfortable working from data — in fact, you might even say you’re uncomfortable not working from it — and you’re strongly oriented toward UI/UX and a focus on the audience: you pride yourself on your ability to get a read from the audience and on your strong sense of how to calibrate your product to the audience’s response.
