Digital Storyteller Wanted at Mission-Driven Education + Arts Foundation
Part-Time Contract Role, 6 Months, Pay Range $40 to $50 per hour
Are You the Missing Piece?
This mission-driven organization is looking for a digitally fluent content editor/writer who can jump into a fast-moving communications team and help shape content across web, social, and email. They’re far more interested in sharp instincts, strong execution, and adaptable storytelling than years of experience. This means that standout earlier-career talent is absolutely in the mix if your work speaks for itself.
This is the kind of role where one day you’re simplifying research-heavy content into a compelling social thread and the next you’re updating website copy in Drupal, proofreading executive messaging, or repurposing a long-form article into a polished email campaign. This is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced editorial environments but wants work that feels meaningful, thoughtful, and mission-aligned.
Note, this is a part-time contract role (covering someone on temporary leave), 25 hours per week, hybrid in New York City.
What’s it going to take to score an interview?
- Strong digital writing + editing chops across web, social, and email
- Experience creating or publishing content in a fast-paced environment (media, nonprofit, education, publishing, etc.)
- Hands-on CMS experience, especially Drupal
- Ability to translate dense or research-heavy topics into engaging, accessible content
- Sharp copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking skills
- Experience managing or supporting editorial calendars and content workflows
- Comfortable working across platforms like SproutSocial, Google Analytics, and publishing tools
- Collaborative, low-ego personality who can move quickly across shifting priorities
- Strong understanding of cross-channel storytelling and content repurposing
- Bonus points for experience in education, arts, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations
You should take this meeting because …
This is the kind of role content people quietly hope to find, one where you actually get to make smart, meaningful work without being boxed into a tiny lane. Plus, it offers broad ownership across digital channels, exposure to high-visibility projects, and the chance to work inside a respected, purpose-driven organization focused on education, arts, and social impact.
If you want to bring your storytelling skills into a mission-oriented environment – without losing the creative energy and variety that makes content work fun – then this is the gig for you! Get in touch with us today.
