What we’re looking for here is a data-driven B2B marketer whose key strengths are strategic and operational — knowing what content a company should be distributing to feed an enterprise market and how best to make that happen. The gig is with an on-the-rise software, hosting and consulting firm that really knows how to take care of its people and is making a big new marketing push. Getting on board now would be very wise indeed.
Nitty Gritty
You’ll head the small-but-growing enterprise marketing team in the U.S., with the possibility of the role going international over time. You’ll carefully assess and deploy your staff to carry out custom-fit roles involving web, email, events, blog, and social, with the overarching goal of expanding the company’s footprint and boosting traffic across all channels, creating calls to action and persuading potential clients to opt in to talk to the firm.
This gig is perfect for a very specific kind of marketer: someone who can manage a team and think strategically about marketing high quality software to the enterprise. There, at the top of the sales funnel, you’ll apply your strategies — bolstered by metrics — to make decisions about which channels to leverage with which content, generating leads and doing everything possible to build the brand. You’ll manage an editorial content calendar and you’ll maintain your strong rolodex of industry and media contacts to make sure that your messaging is landing with the right people.
Hired Gun Profile
You’ve been in the digital marketing field for a few years now, preferably for a tech company or two, and have garnered some solid management experience. You know your way around the standard marketing automation tools – Marketo, Eloqua, Salesforce, and similar packages. You’re a pretty darn good writer, and that’s great, but what’s more important is that you have outstanding editorial judgment, very strong and well-informed opinions about what should be written and how it should be done. And you’ve got the people-managing skills to get that stuff produced just so, the better to execute on your marketing plan. You’re completely up to date on digital marketing techniques and best practices, with a strong grasp of social media and its potential for growing a business. You’re commercially-minded and analytical, with superior communication skills. And, interpersonally, you bring an openness and spirit of collaboration that’s downright infectious.
Inside Skinny
We’d love to hear some war stories and maybe see some examples about how you’ve grown a company’s footprint and increased its traffic.
Net Net
If you’ve been looking for a place to flex your marketing muscle but haven’t quite found the company that’s on the right growth trajectory, this could well be it.
