Metathesiophobia. The fear of change. If you’re a digital consultant, you’ve probably been a catalyst for this fear more than once. You’ve watched brave ideas evade actualization, simply because someone couldn’t or wouldn’t see the light. It can be frustrating, painful even, but it makes it all the more rewarding to partner with organizations that embrace change; aspire to change. Our client, a veteran retail giant, is one of those organizations, and they’re on the brink of it. They’re seeking an empowered digital strategist to ride the change wave with them, and equip them for the brave new world ahead.
Nitty Gritty
This gig will have two phases. Phase one is orientation. You’ll come in hot, getting in the weeds with the org’s marketing operations: SEO, paid search, email, programmatic, retargeting and spend/allocation. You’ll also manage the day to day relationships with digital partners and outside agencies, including analytics tools and social platforms. When you’ve got the lay of the land, you’ll focus on driving revenue through the promotion of seasonal sales. From there, you’ll use data to find out what’s working and what’s not, and refine a strategy from there.
Phase two is innovation. We spoke earlier about change. Our client is in the midst of a big one. They are branching out in terms of product, and getting more specific in terms of curation. They’re moving from a brand/creative focus to a more product-driven strategy, and getting more acquainted with their repeat customer. They’re moving from a busy, bohemian aesthetic to something more minimal, clean and sophisticated. It will be your job to translate these changes into marketing strategies that inspire transformation and growth.
Hired Gun Profile
This gig calls for a metrics- and insights-driven strategist with experience in retail and ecommerce. A fluency with Google and Facebook ad products is a huge plus, and certification is even better. We’re looking for a people person. Someone who can interface with stakeholders and partners in a meaningful and productive way. Experience with the conversion funnel is a must-have. Our client is looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit. Someone who is hungry to prove themselves, and can bring a sort of start-up energy to the business.
Inside Skinny
