The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the company and why they need to hire you!
For over two decades, this nationally renowned organization has provided leadership and support to consumer organizations, policymakers, and foundations, working to ensure that America’s healthcare system serves everyone – especially historically marginalized communities. Selected by MacKenzie Scott to receive a generous one-time gift of $25 million, this healthcare advocacy org is now poised for significant growth and rebranding in 2023. And that’s where you come in:
They’re looking for an advocacy-focused visual storyteller to conceptualize and produce digital content in a range of media and bring to life this company’s work centered on race equity and health justice. As Director of Content and Storytelling, you’ll change the conversations around healthcare through the lens of race equity. You will set content strategy, produce channel-specific content, and support organizational growth across various campaigns as a builder, creative partner, and digital storyteller. You’ll spearhead content creation that translates strategic priorities, accomplishments, and messaging into compelling big-picture storylines and editorial features that advance brand reputation and perceptions with their target audiences. It will be your responsibility to execute solutions for a range of creative challenges – developing a clear vision for a project, and communicating concepts and ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
Working on healthcare, advocacy and racial equity issues is extremely important to you. You’re all about creating and transforming conversations around race equity. It’s okay if you haven’t worked in healthcare advocacy, but you must be open to engaging in the convo around healthcare in a big way. Perhaps you’re doing this right now on TikTok or Twitter. Regardless, you’re a self-starter with a demonstrated track record of creating compelling, mission-driven content with racial orientation being top of mind. Plus, you’re adept at crafting compelling content for different audiences, and you are highly effective in building trust and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Attention to detail and an uncanny ability to elevate the voices, stories, culture, and priorities of diverse stakeholders are a must. Plus, you have a keen sense of judgment, you’re quickly able to identify relevant and trending topics ahead of the curve, and you have the sharp journalistic skills needed to weave meaningful stories into strategic dissemination and ultimately, action.
The Inside Skinny
Why you should quit your job right now and join this team!
In an uncertain economic and media landscape, this is a really nice place to land. You’ll get to work at an advocacy organization and apply your storytelling experience to change real-world health disparities. Win-Win for all.
