Here you will be charged with shaping the cross-channel user experience design for a huge, successful e-commerce company whose impressive growth is making headlines and impressing Wall Street!
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the company and why they need to hire you!
As Director of UX Research, you will be responsible for leading user research for key initiatives to help accelerate growth, redefine the strategic long-term vision, and integrate digital technology at every touchpoint so customers have a seamless experience across all retail channels. You will be in a key leadership role helping develop and direct strategic user research by partnering with product management, technology, data analysts, designers, marketing, and finance. You’ll lead, hire, and manage a team of researchers, but also work with consultants and vendor relationships.
This is a unique opportunity to join a digital business with a massive scale that is growing and investing in a new type of customer-centric shopping experience at the intersection of content, commerce, and technology to help customers find and buy things they love – and your work will be at the forefront of all of this!
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10+ years of experience in all areas of user research, with at least 5 years of experience managing a team. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, HCI, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is a must; Masters degree preferred. You are highly skilled both at elevating customer experiences for surprise and delight and at optimizing for efficiency and effectiveness down to the product-page level. You’ve got all of those bases covered, and you know how to develop and lead talent to do the same! Your service design approach to UX cuts across everything from visual design, customer strategy, information architecture, research and more. Not only do you have amazing research skills, but you’re also a great leader—i.e. you’ve built out and led UX research teams in the past, and are comfortable overseeing a team. It goes without saying that you’re adept at working cross-departmentally with a variety of leaders—from product, to business, to marketing, to creative. You’re a natural-born leader, a hard worker, and you love to champion others and their careers. Oh, and the customer is always top of your mind!
