In this exciting role, it’s not an exaggeration to say that you’ll be helping to save the world! As the Global Director of Video at this innovative and inspiring organization, you’ll be the key to engaging their core Millennial and Gen Z audiences to build a movement to end global poverty.
The Global Director of Video sets and executes the organization’s video communication strategy. You’ve got the vision to turn messages into moving images and the know-how to make it happen.
Picture yourself helming a small, tightly-knit video production team that’s constantly on the run, covering live music events and festivals, shooting social-first videos that run the gamut from news-driven to humorous, and producing short documentary-style pieces that showcase the organization’s impact on the communities it serves. Sure, you’ll set direction and provide leadership, but you’ll also be doing parts of every job on the crew. Luckily, that’s just how you like it: rolling up your sleeves keeps you in touch.
You’ll be working closely with well-known influencers from the music and entertainment world, as well as experts on policy and development, philanthropic organizations, and your own C-level management in an environment that often has a frantic pace and high stakes. But through it all, you’ll manage stakeholders’ needs and interests, keep a cool head, and keep everyone on-task and on-schedule.
Hired Gun Profile
You’ve got solid experience (over 5 years) producing social-first and short-form video and have headed up small production teams. Formal management experience is great, but we’d be just as happy if you have great leadership qualities and are ready to reach up into a management role. You’ve worked in fast-paced, high-volume environments like a digital media company or newsroom, and you thrive on that adrenaline rush. You’re steady under pressure, and you never lose your confidence-inspiring “we can do it” attitude.
You’re a savant with pop culture as well as public policy. You’re brilliant in all aspects of digital video: strategy creation, treatments and shot lists, scriptwriting, shooting, editing, and directing. You’re great with people and you know how to do what it takes to get the production you want. You have a go-to list of freelance video editors and producers you can light up when you need the troops, and you know how to build a remote studio out of a few lights and a sheet when the trucks don’t show up on time.
The culture here is all about staying fresh and standing out from the crowd, so you’ll be expected to try new things and take creative risks. Tell us how you’ve dreamed up some out-there approaches to visual communication challenges!
