The Hired Guns are seeking a Senior Associate, Data and Analytics for a red-hot (but blue-leaning) full-service digital strategy, data, and communications firm with offices in Washington, DC and NYC. If you’ve got two to four years of experience making sense of data from numerous industries and interests — with frequent dips into a progressive itinerary — come join this highly influential leader in the field.
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the organization and why they need to hire you!
Brands, cities, campaigns, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations all love working with this award-winning agency, which built its own proprietary software to monitor and measure campaigns. And the person who scores this Senior Associate, Data and Analytics job will get to apply their far-ranging fluency to extremely large sets of data.
The bulk of the work is developing scalable, repeatable processes for data collection and analysis via languages and tools — proficiency in SQL and Tableau is good, but Python and Scala are better. And then comes the dashboard construction, to better generate custom reports in partnership with different members of the organization in an agile, ad-hoc fashion.
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
There’s more than one way to create efficient data offerings. If you have the technical ability to build data products from scratch, enhancing automation and machine learning, you may just be the ideal candidate. Pair that with a brainy need to analyze the source of a problem, and you’re a fit again. That said, whether you’re an engineering data scientist or a highly analytical Excel wizard, you have the core competencies to optimize a data set so big it affects the tides.
Progressive policy wonks, your inside-the-Beltway experience is very welcome here.
Tell Me About a Time When …
The interview questions you need to rock to score a “swipe right”…
- First you’ll need to show you’ve walked the walk before. Describe ways in which you brought efficiency to a data organization, either through automation or other repeatable processes.
- Then you need to prove you can go off-script when life happens. Describe a scenario in which an issue or problem came up in your data collection, and what you did to get to the bottom of it.
- You’ll be subject to lots and lots of urgent asks from all over the company. What’s your approach to managing lots of moving parts — even if you’re unsure of their place in the larger framework?
The Inside Skinny
Why you should quit your job right now and join this organization!
Ready to change fields? Political experience is great but not required. If you know your numbers, you could bring relevant experience from any large undertaking: financial services, huge media outlets, hospitality chains. The one common trait of the clients who hire this firm is that they’re all winners — or about to be.
