What good is a senior marketing gig if you can’t believe deeply in your product and your company’s mission? Well, here’s one you can be proud of — if you care about changing the world through applying the promise of technology to education. The company is founded on the idea of developing sleek, attractive technology to improve educational outcomes on the individual and societal levels, and it’s got a slew of off-the-fairway products to make that happen. When you come on board, you’ll apply your considerable marketing experience and expertise in a truly significant, very senior role, doing meaningful and challenging work. Unless we’re deluding ourselves, that’s pretty much the recipe for job satisfaction….
Nitty Gritty
You’ll head up the marketing function for one of the company’s most important divisions. It’s a big, strategic role, to be sure. It entails every aspect of marketing planning, budgeting, metrics and reporting. With three direct reports, you’ll be responsible for developing a marketing strategy that supports the larger organization’s long-term objectives. You’ll execute competitive analyses and market research, using the results to segment and define target markets; you’ll bring what you’ve learned to the sales and product teams to help inform their work: pricing, product improvements, launch plans, messaging and positioning. Your team will handle RFPs (research, writing, quality control) and manage the digital media presence. All told, you’ll play a key role in the creation and delivery of smart, measurable marketing campaigns that move the division and the company closer to their strategic goals.
Hired Gun Profile
You’ve been in the marketing biz for at least seven years now, having worked on — and nailed to the wall — several integrated, data-intensive campaigns. You can easily point to some brilliantly creative, effective marketing collateral for which you were responsible.
You’ve always prided yourself on your eagerness to learn and your ability to promptly size up a situation and get to work. You don’t mind collaborating the same way a porpoise doesn’t mind the ocean; in fact, one of your personal hallmarks is a history of winning help from all throughout an organization. Along with your flair and creativity, you’re fortunate to possess highly developed organizational skills, managing multiple processes and their details without losing sight of strategic goals, and managing people in a fair and inspiring way. To top it all off, the clarity and charisma with which you speak, write and present come as a welcome relief to everyone fortunate enough to work with you.
Inside Skinny
If you’ve got experience marketing in K-12 education, you’re an even hotter commodity.
