The Hired Guns are seeking a seasoned product marketer with 8+ years of experience to help position a global design software company as a leader in the education technology space.
The Nitty Gritty
The backstory on the organization and why they need to hire you!
A well-known edu-tech company whose key industry segment includes manufacturers is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager to lead an “advance team” to market their software to the higher ed market, specifically the deans and professors of the top engineering programs in the U.S. The aim is that by doing this, the software will be adopted by engineering students, which will translate to higher market penetration when these students become professional engineers at the world’s top manufacturers.
Considered a global leader in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software and services, the company is growing rapidly. Your Year One top-priority objective will be to develop and execute positioning and segmentation messaging for their edu-tech product, then launch the Go-To-Market strategy (GTM) for the U.S. higher ed marketplace. This is an excellent opportunity for you to exceed expectations in a newly-created role and move up the ladder.
Why You?
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
First off, you’re an expert B2B product marketer with a strong GTM toolkit — you excel at defining positioning, segmenting audiences, creating messaging, elevating thought leadership and, most importantly, driving demand — as well as specific experience marketing edu-tech products to the higher-education space. As a strong communicator, you have an impressive track record of creating and overseeing successful, message-driven brand marketing content which has translated to customer acquisition.
As a leader, you’re charismatic, but also supportive and able to give clear tactical directives while managing ambiguity. In addition to superior digital marketing, analytical and search skills (including knowing customer/audience segmentation), you have your finger on the pulse of education trends and possess a passion for engineering. In fact, if you’re a former engineer who turned sales engineer/marketer — even better!
The ideal candidate has one or two direct reports at their current company and is looking for a chance to step up and manage a bigger team. Also, stakeholder management chops are essential: you’ll be overseeing multiple deadline-driven marketing projects that will have many moving parts and that will touch many areas of the company.
The Inside Skinny
Why you should quit your job right now and join this organization!
The head of Product Marketing wants you to steal his job! Well, not quite, but he does see this role as that of a trusted lieutenant who will grow into his job so he can move up in the organization. How’s that for a clear trajectory?
