The Hired Guns are seeking a Head of Memberships with significant experience launching and running membership departments. You’ll join a pop-culture site devoted to all things new, iconic and interesting in San Francisco. This is a brand-new role where you’ll invent a memberships product and department from the ground up! Relocation could be available for the right candidate!
Salary range: $125,000 to $175,000 per year
- Operate as the de facto GM
- Create unique and bespoke programming and events to increase audience engagement
- Take on revenue responsibility and establish pricing and marketing
How you’ll know if you’re a fit…
You have a minimum of 7 years of experience in the Memberships arena. While it would be great if you’ve worked in online publishing already, it is not a deal-breaker if you haven’t … if you’re a memberships genius anywhere from co-working, social clubs, or tech companies to mission-based non-profits like museums or gardens, we’d love to hear from you! Your unique value proposition is that you really understand audiences and what they want in terms of programming and access. You have go-to-market chops and a strong understanding of various models for building profitable (and adored) membership models.
Your mission (should you choose to accept it) …
This publisher has just re-launched its site – and its audience is growing like gang-busters. With its fresh and fun style, the site is tailored to smart and savvy SF insiders – the people who love the City By the Bay. The membership operation will be built from scratch, and you’ll be the owner of the strategy and P/L. Once you wow everyone with your master plan, you’ll build out the membership journey, from new member acquisition, to retention and loyalty, to exclusive members-only opportunities that are absolutely unique to the brand. You will work closely with the management team, editorial and other cross-functional teams.
This is a hybrid role, 4 days a week on-site and one day remote.
